ARTIST STATEMENT"Marsha’s purpose is to create a painting that makes an emotional connection with the viewer, art work a person could live with forever and continue to wonder: “How did she do that?!” Marsha Lippert is a juried member of Women Painters of Washington, Seattle Co Arts and the Art Stall Gallery in the Pike Place Market." ARTIST HISTORYA native of Seattle, Marsha has worked in local elementary schools as Artist-in-Residence, mentored high school students and facilitated murals and classroom instruction in several school districts in the greater Seattle area. Depending on the subject and what Marsha is trying to achieve in a painting, she works in soft pastel, oil pastel or watercolor. The surface used to create a painting dictates which medium will be chosen. Oil pastel allows for luscious blending of the colors similar to soft pastel; but takes more time to complete the painting. Soft pastel is more immediate and allows many layers as well; but because it is dry, the work goes faster than when using oil pastel. Watercolor is wonderful for color sketches and a change of pace. I have had many opportunities throughout my career as an artist to connect with a variety of people in interesting situations. Art is an adventure both creatively but also through exchanges with the wonderful people I meet and get to work with in the types of situations listed below. The adventure continues and I look forward to learning more from those I meet. Exhibitions:
