Member Biography

Beverly Shaw-Starkovich

ARTIST BACKGROUND and STATEMENT

"Born and raised in rural California, I love being outdoors and surrounded by nature. I am particularly fond of wide vistas and big sky. I moved to Washington State in 1978 and was delighted to find an abundance of beautiful and diverse terrain. Now I am very fortunate to live in West Seattle where I observe the Puget Sound, marine traffic, mountains and weather changes daily. My creative inspirations sprout from these daily experiences.

I have always had my hand(s) in some form of artistic expression for as long as I remember, from sculpting and stained glass to printmaking and painting. However, I've made my living as a psychotherapist. About 10 years ago, I felt a strong desire to focus and pursue my commitment to painting and have enjoyed it tremendously ever since. I currently split my time beween painting, family, and my psychotherapy practice."
