ARTIST STATEMENT

"As the years pass the Artist grows. I have been blessed to be surrounded by working artists down here in the California Anza Borrego Desert. I teach classes of watercolor on Yupo, hang shows in The Gallery and more recently have become the Executive Director of the Art Institute of Borrego.

Never have I been happier. Our mission is to educate grade school students, provide a venue for works of art and operate as a not-for -profit committed to community benefits. An artist friend teaches two days a week after school to students who have asked for art. The BAI supports her and provides materials for the class. Attendance has tripled in four years.

Because the desert is too hot for year round living, our town of Borrego Springs shrinks for 5 months (May-Sept) and then resumes a frantic pace of fun and learning. When the community is back there is plenty to keep us busy.

We are golfers, swimmers, artists, musicians, historians, astronomers, archeologists and paleontologists. Yes, this is an active community that attracts seniors with an education and a will to share.
