ARTIST STATEMENT"My work is primarily that of a realist, done in watercolor, pencil or acrylic. In my still life work, I love how light moves over and through glass and other objects, enhancing a myriad of colors, values, patterns and textures that sharpen our senses. My drawings and portraitures are also realistic, but with an intellectual and emotional response, a conscious and subconscious association with the subject."
ARTIST BACKGROUNDLively colors and vivid details are the signature qualities of Sally's still life work. Fresh, clear, uplifting colors enhance an abundance of details, textures and reflections. With interest in art and design, Sally honed her artistic skills early in life but was not able to work on her degree until late in life, graduating with her Bachelor's degree, summa cum laude from Art Institute of Southern California, now called Laguna School of Art + Design, Laguna Beach, CA. Her professional expertise varies widely from illustration work for corporate clients, ad agencies, greeting card companies, commissioned portraits, fine art paintings and teaching art classes. Sally balanced a full-time career in accounting before retiring in September 2008, and is excited to devote full time now to her artwork. Her work has won honors in numerous national and local shows including the prestigious Society of Illustrators National Juried Exhibition in New York City, the equally prestigious Society of Illustrators West Exhibition in Los Angeles and in Women Painters of Washington exhibitions.
