ARTIST STATEMENT

"My painting and assemblage work is narrative. Real and imagined stories are my source material. As I work, the distinction between real and imagined blurs and the work becomes complex. The characters in this visual drama have one relationship in common. I enjoy the pentimento effect of translucent images on a watercolor background. Just as it is interesting to sort out what is real from what is imagined, it engages me to work with the various layers of media to create a finished painting."
